Home Ed Summer Programme

I just thought I'd share the activities we've been enjoying in the last few weeks, and intend to build on these skills with our almost-5-year-old in the coming months:
  • Reading
  • Arts and crafts
  • Football
  • Spongebob-watching
  • Typing
  • Sandcastle-building
  • Naming weekdays
  • Counting - adding and subtracting
  • Survival club - tree-climbing, digging for gems, running, fighting
  • Soldiers
  • Biking
  • Roleplay Mario
  • Wrestling
  • Darts
  • Stop-motion animation
  • Cartwheels and handstands
  • Fishing
  • Climbing
  • Sandwich-making
  • Magic tricks
  • Face-painting
  • Water fights
  • Naughty stuff
  • Workouts - push-ups, yoga, stretching, breathing
  • Fort-building
  • Knot-tying
I expand on each one in the attached video.

I'm sure there's loads more but these are the ones that spring to mind. I think it's a pretty well-rounded education. Writing's not really on the agenda at the moment, nor do I care. I think it will come once he's reading, and typing's almost the same. All the above happen organically, and are child-led activities, with parental involvement only where necessary (ie. working the video camera / getting materials out etc). In our house learning never starts or stops, it's all around. There's no feeling of obligation or hassle around learning, we learn what we want when we want, and as we need it. The bubble is still firmly around us, attachment parenting has lead to unschooling, and we're loving it!
