As you may be aware, if you've been reading this blog for a while, I've been less forthcoming about our personal lives, and more focused on the fashion and beauty side of it. It's something that's been on my mind for the last while, with Charlie turning 5, and becoming more aware of the world at large.
I started this blog almost 2 years ago, and did it openly, using our real names, our kid's names, and photos too. At the time I was reading other "mom blogs" and I figured that's just what one did. It has become clear though, that a lot of moms use invented names for their kids online, and some hide their own identities too.
I regret some of my candour now, especially as we are living a less mainstream life, and have had some opposition about our parenting choices both online and in everyday life. If we were flying "under the radar" we'd never have had to justify things, or explain, or defend, but such is life.
After a privacy scare a few weeks ago,, I went back over a lot of blog posts where I feel I'd exposed too much personal information and/or photos of the children. So if you click on a link to a blog post and come up with a dead end, please know this is the reason why.
I will still share my opinions on some current affairs, matters close to my heart, parenting, relationships and the fluff (fashion and beauty) gladly and honestly. But I feel the need to stop sharing anecdotes and personal details of the children. They never asked to be included, and they have no concept of the internet, so I've realised (a little late) these are not my stories to tell.
I hope you'll continue on this journey with me, I blog freely and wholeheartedly, in fits and starts, sometimes 4 posts a week, sometimes I take a break for a few days, but you can be guaranteed that every word here is genuine. I'm just drawing boundaries that I should have had from the start.
I love the relationships I've built up over the years with you, my readers, and above all, I love that whatever wild turn my brain takes, there is someone willing to read it - for what is a writer without a reader.
So thanks one and all, and stay tuned for more ramblings!
