Personal rights

This was shared in an online group I'm in, and I loved it so much I thought I'd share it here.  There is a great Women's Aid campaign at the moment which highlights emotional abuse. I think everyone could benefit from reading through this list and seeing do you feel free to experience all 20 points on it. Not just with your other half, but in your friendships and family relationships.

Parents can then go through the list and make sure they are affording their children these rights too. I read recently "You earn your place in your children's lives" and think that is so true. The groundwork you put in when they're young will stand to you in the future, and they might actually "want" to be around you, not just because they feel obliged.

If there's a few (or more) points on the list which you feel are not being respected in a relationship maybe you could think of ways to improve on that.  Seek professional help if you need it. You have only one life to live, and isn't it flying by? Why not make it the best it can be.

Let that be your gift to yourself this Christmas.
