We are really looking forward to a Christmas event in our community, the WALK Winter Wonderland at Drimnagh Castle. This will be its third year running, and it's getting bigger and better every year. Held over four days, from Thursday 3rd December to Sunday 6th December, Drimnagh Castle is bedecked in Christmas wonder, with fake snow on the hedges, elves dotted around and the Big Man himself meeting children in the beautiful medieval hall itself. If you are anywhere near the Long Mile Road try to get to it, it's really worth a visit.
Last year we loved the hot chocolate and mince pies, the merry-go-round, the balloon modelling, dancing to the Christmas music under the snow machine. Best of all was when we were called into the North Pole to meet some elves and Mrs. Claus for a fun show, see photos below.
Nobby the elf was hilarious, and had us all singing Christmas songs and hearing about his naughty antics. My 4 year old still thinks we were transported to the North Pole, it was so magical.
Then we got to go up into the beautiful castle itself, worth the entrance price for this view alone, with its tiled floor and beautiful woodwork. This is a Norman castle with a moat, steeped in history and a real hidden gem in Dublin.
We got photobombed by Mickey Mouse! This is a really lovely community event and we wouldn't miss it for the world. Make sure you book your tickets soon, some are selling out. The tickets are a great idea so you're not queuing long to see Santa. And the gifts he gave our boys are still being used this year, a kaleidoscope and a Santa torch. Tickets can be booked here:
